Lambing and Calving Tour
The 2011 Larry Nissen Memorial Lambing and Calving Tour gets going this weekend with a calving tour scheduled at Turner Colony on Saturday and Sunday. The tours, sponsored by the Chinook Area Chamber of Commerce, are entering their second year and include tours of several cattle and sheep operations on ranches across Blaine County. The purpose of the tours is to acquaint area residents with calving, lambing and other aspects of livestock production. They also have proven to be entertaining as well as informative for young and old alike.
Seven ranches have already signed on for the tours and others are invited to join in by calling the Blaine County Extension Office at 357-3200 or Christie Nissen at 357-3642 or 357-3534 to request a weekend. People are invited to call the ranches of their choice to arrange for times to their visits and to inquire about directions. People also can call the Extension Office or visit the Chinook Chamber Web site at www.chinookmontana.com
