BED RACES
Entrants are encouraged to construct and decorate a “bed” (yes, like the one in your bedroom) and wear clothing appropriate for family viewing over their normal clothing that reflects the theme of the Sugarbeet Festival. The Bed Races are held on Saturday, October 10th at 2:00 p.m. on the block of 3rd and 4th street.
Each team must consist of 4 members (1 rider and 3 pushers), and all team members must be over the age of 16. The rider must be on the bed as long as it is in motion and may NOT help push at any time. If the rider falls off the bed, the bed must come to a complete stop until the rider is back on. The bed may be an existing double bed or one made for the race; however if made, it must look like a real bed, have a footboard and headboard, and be double bed size. The bed must have a real mattress and/or box spring, 1 blanket or top sheet and 1 pillow with a case. Beds must have 4 wheels not larger than 6 inches in diameter and can have no push bars outside of the frame.
